This Classroom Edition of The Iliad supports key Common Core State Standards (CCSS) across Grades 5–9 through close reading, guided discussion, and structured classroom activities directly aligned with the text.
In Grade 9 instructional contexts, the text may also support higher-level literary discussion, ethical analysis, and thematic interpretation aligned with district-selected standards.
The standards listed below are addressed through:
the narrative structure of the adaptation,
chapter-based Student Activities, and
Teacher Notes included in every chapter, which provide instructional focus, discussion guidance, and classroom use suggestions.
A Teacher Introduction at the end of the book supports synthesis, reflection, and instructional planning.
Additional teacher support materials, including structured assessment rubrics, may be available as downloadable resources to support evaluation and classroom planning.
This alignment is intended to support flexible classroom integration. The book does not replace a full curriculum, but is designed to complement existing ELA and Humanities programs.
