Interactive activities to use after reading each chapter of The Iliad and the Trojan War: Homer’s Epic Adapted for Young Readers (Classroom Edition).
There is one independent activity page for each part of the story, covering all 12 chapters (Chapters 1 and 2 share a page), so teachers can assign them one at a time as the class reads. They also work for independent study and homeschooling.
Each page includes:
Understand the Story: comprehension questions
Think and Discuss: discussion prompts for pairs, small groups or the whole class, with optional space for notes
Create: a choice between two short writing tasks from a character’s point of view
Did You Know? and Vocabulary: cultural context and a glossary
Use the Words: vocabulary practice
Reflection: a closing question answered with ideas from the text
Students type their answers directly on the page, then review them and download a PDF with their questions and answers to save or hand in.
